jenkins family

Mission 212 Foundation was privileged to support the Jenkins family—Brian, Kim, and their three children at home, Daisy (13), Crosby (10), and Ellie (10)—as they navigate Brian’s battle with Stage 4 prostate cancer, which has spread to his bones. This family’s story is especially poignant, as Kim is a cancer survivor herself, having conquered Stage 3 breast cancer in 2018. Living in Shawnee, the Jenkins family faced new challenges when Brian, an active and healthy individual who had completed marathons and Ironman competitions, was diagnosed with cancer.

When Austin and Andrea visited them at their home, they learned Kim would need to return to her work as a nurse to help cover medical expenses. After hearing their story, our board unanimously decided to make the Jenkins family our featured ruck family for the year, dedicating our fundraising efforts specifically to supporting Brian and Kim. The event was not only a physical challenge but also a powerful display of community support. Brian’s journey is one of resilience and expressed his gratitude after the event from the support they received, writing: “We are beyond grateful to Mission 212, their reaching out to us, supporting us and helping us to not feel alone in this journey. It is a hard road to navigate but when folks like Austin & Andrea show up in your lives and you see what he conquered; it is a hope booster! It is always amazing to me how God shows up in the people He surrounds you with. Just a gentle reminder that He is holding us in His hands.”

We are deeply humbled by Brian’s words and the opportunity to walk alongside the Jenkins family during this challenging time. Their strength, faith, and unwavering love for one another continue to inspire us all.
