Demage family
Mission 212 Foundation was honored to support the Demage family—BJ, his wife Amy, and their three children, Ever, Lennon, and Wells—during BJ’s courageous battle with Stage 4 Clear Cell Sarcoma. BJ has since passed away, but his story and the impact of our support continue to inspire us. When BJ and Amy first reached out to us, we could relate to many of their struggles, particularly the financial burden that cancer imposes on families. After their GoFundMe campaign helped cover their bills, BJ and Amy contacted us, asking if we could support another family in need.
As we spoke further, we learned that they had felt guilty about accepting help, fearing that others might believe they were misusing the donations meant for their immediate needs. When we asked what they would be doing together as a family if cancer weren’t part of their lives, BJ and Amy shared their dream of taking a family trip—celebrating their anniversary and creating memories together, just as most families would. This conversation reinforced the core mission of our foundation: to help families make lasting memories during life’s most difficult moments. Cancer doesn’t have to stop life, and we want these families to experience joy and connection despite their struggles.
With the funds we provided, the BJ family was able to take a two-week vacation to Florida, where they created treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of Amy, the kids, and everyone who knew them. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside the BJ family, and BJ’s strength and resilience continue to inspire us as we honor his memory.
